Early Life
Abel Oluwafemi Dosunmu, popularly known as Mega 99, was born in Oshodi, Lagos State, Nigeria. From a young age, he displayed both academic dedication and a deep love for music. He later attended Olabisi Onabanjo University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy.
Though he had a strong educational foundation, music was always his true calling. This passion eventually led him to follow a different path, one that would establish him as a household name in gospel juju music.
Career
Mega 99’s professional journey into music began in 1994, when he formed his band, Abel Dosunmu and the Mega 99 Band. Four years later, he officially stepped into the spotlight with the release of his debut album, My Mother (1998). The project introduced him to gospel juju lovers as a fresh talent with a unique sound.
He continued to grow his craft with albums like Prayer (2000), which further showcased his blend of spiritual themes and Yoruba-inspired rhythms. His breakthrough came with projects such as Money (2004), Ona Ara (2006), and Weep Not (2008), each strengthening his influence in the gospel juju space.
