The Truth About Nigerian Artistes Who Going On Tour

The Truth About Nigerian Artistes Who Going On Tour : Latest Nigerian Celebrities News, Tours and Gossip

I’m going on a world tour in July” said the Nigerian Superstar. After announcing this, he puts out an artwork covering 35 venues he’s going to be performing at. His fans are wowed and they just can’t get enough of how BIG their favorite artiste is.

Truth be told, there are lot of things about the industry that the fans don’t know, only the creative minds and insiders knows about these things. For today, I’ll write a little about this “TOUR” thing artistes are always talking about.

For a music artiste, going on his own tour, it means he’s going to be doing different venues in different cities where arrangements have made for him, his music, his team, the concerts, fans…. everything with you being the FOCUS of it all.

But this isn’t what my beloved Nigerian artistes are doing. Most times when artistes say they’re going on their own tour, it’s not really a tour. It’s just them putting a whole bunch of dates they have been billed to perform together, they put a title on it, support with a clean artwork and they call it their OWN tour.

I for once think this needs to stop.

Yes, some might see it as a way of boosting their perceived value to fans and to some extent it might work, but it’s not what the young ones should emulate. African Artistes are globally recognized now and we ought to act and plan like it.

If it’s not your OWN tour, don’t call it yours. If it’s not a tour, don’t call it a tour. If it’s just dates where you’ve been billed to perform, let your fans know that “Hey guys!! These are where I’m going to be at”… Simple.

In 2015, when Humblesmith’s hit single titled “Osinachi” was still trending, he pulled the same trick, he put some dates of where he has been billed to perform together, support it with a clean artwork and told people he’s going on “Osinachi” Uk tour. Fans on Instagram couldn’t stop asking him, how? Where? With how many songs?

Music has its process and I believe that music artistes shouldn’t rush it. If you’re at a stage where you are still building your fan base, do it diligently. When you get results, then you move to the next. If you put all the work in, with time you will definitely go on your OWN tour without having to lie about anything.

Sadly, the numbers of artistes in Nigeria who have organized their OWN (international) tour successfully is just a handful. Yes. Tell me, do you know them? If you do, I’d like to hear them in the comments. Thank you.

N:B No one can go on tour for now due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Sigh.
